Dialysis Centers

The largest piece of real estate in a dialysis center is the floor. It can also be the biggest challenge in facility maintenance. The floor in a dialysis center is exposed to a number of elements that erode its finish, such as acid and bicarb spills, medicines, and leaks from dialysis machines.

By their nature, dialysis centers have a heightened need for proper sanitizing and disinfecting of environmental surfaces, especially those in treatment areas. Special attention needs to be paid to making sure all body fluids are removed in the proper manner to avoid any transmission of bloodborne pathogens.

Floors are considered "low-touch housekeeping surfaces" by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).
